Welcoming of the Whales
Albany whale season was welcomed in with a first-of-its-kind whale festival in 2017.
The inaugural Welcoming the Whales Festival took place at Albany’s Historic Whaling Station and our skilled young performers were invited to celebrated the return of whales to local waters. Albany has a unique history surrounding the whales which grace our shores and our students brought there unique and dynamic talents to this landmark community event.

Working with Noongar kids in schools
North Albany Senior High School in collaboration with Southern Edge Arts and our resident artist Serena McLachlan worked together to create this "deadly" design. The boys drove the project from instigation to fruition and after all their hard work got to enjoy cruising down the main street of Albany in the cities Christmas Pageant spreading the message of road safety along the way.

Albany Car Classic 2017
The Albany Classic is a historic race event and is one of only two events of its type still going today in Australia. The modern event is as much a festival as serious motorsport and caters for the whole family. Crowds line the city streets to witness the vintage and classic cars zooming around the streets and our SEA performers zooming in the skies.
Festival of the Sea
Carnival D’Mar (Carnival of the Sea) provided an immersive environment to explore. The performances incorporated puppetry, music, dance, circus, physical theatre and clowning into a high energy and inviting experience. The show begun with a parade that traveled from the Albany Entertainment Centre, along the refurbished foreshore to the Boat Shed, the home of the Festival of the Sea. SEA Members were involved in the creation, development and realisation of all characters, puppets, booths, stalls, exhibits and other carnival features.
