Performing Arts Program

SEA presents an integrated Performing Arts Program. With four streams to choose from, we have all the Performing Arts covered. When you join SEA you become a part of the state’s premiere youth performing arts company. All our tutors are professional artists who continuously update their knowledge and skills and keep abreast of innovative developments in the world of contemporary performing arts. Guest professional artists are engaged throughout the SEA year to encourage and diversify our local training and to build our exciting shows each year.

Cutting edge, high quality productions are a part of life at SEA. Participating students are able to be involved in the development of our shows utilising their creativity and ideas. You will get to perform in the community and may experience life on the road when we tour shows! We provide interactive cross genre performance experiences that broaden student’s skills and outlook.

Our weekly classes build on skills as well as encouraging self expression and creativity for students aged 2- 25 yrs. Each year we involve all students in our Showcases, which culminates in an evening of high entertainment.

Students may be invited to our performance classes, CircaSEA, as presented by Act Belong Commit, and Theatre Troupe, which rehearse performances in readiness for various community events such as the Albany Show, as well as in preparation for our productions.

Getting the most out of SEA means that keen students will further enrich their skills by attending classes at least twice a week. We try to keep costs down as much as possible for our families, and we don’t charge for extras like costumes.

We can also offer a home school program during school hours. Selected workshops are available dependent on a minimum enrolment of 6 students. If you are interested in additional home school classes please contact us.

Performance Projects

Each year we develop a number of performance projects that bring members and professional artists together to make quality productions. These projects draw on the skills and interests of our tutors, invited guest artists and the members involved. All workshop participants are invited to take part in these projects. Projects are developed to challenge young people to explore issues and stories that excite their interest, to encourage a commitment to artistic excellence and at the same time ensure a high level of practical education.

Community Projects

We use the performing arts to add value to community events and gatherings through our community projects. Our philosophy is based on the principles of Creativity, Excellence, Participation and Respect, we nurture self-expression and imagination in young people and encourage participation and teamwork across all ages, art forms and social diversity.

By engaging with the community we offer opportunities to our members that build confidence, create a sense of belonging and the satisfaction of contributing to community in a fun and meaningful way.

From small performances to skills demonstrations, street theatre and interactive workshops or games we can add fun and colour to your community event.

Our outreach program caters for schools and community groups locally and across the region. We are based in Albany but work right throughout the Great Southern and as far afield as the Kimberley. Our professional tutors are available to present workshops at your venue or you can come to our purpose built studio.  Contact the office to discuss solutions that fit your needs and those of your students/members.

We can work with you to develop large or small scale projects including assistance in applying for additional funding
