GENERAL MANAGER POSITION

We are looking for an inspired and exceptional individual to join the company as its General Manager, working closely with the Artistic Director to lead regional WA’s foremost performing arts organisation for young people.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership and communication skills, proven experience in managing financial activity, aptitude and experience in managing the day-to-day requirements of an organisation in respect to administration and operations, outstanding organisational, planning and self-management skills, and an ability to work collaboratively in a small team to achieve the goals of the organisation.

Southern Edge Arts structure currently includes the Artistic Director/CEO (FT), General Manager (FT) and Admin Trainee (PT), a bookkeeper, and 7 casual workshop trainers.

The General Manager position is a full-time appointment and reports to the Artistic Director/CEO and the SEA Board of Management.

Selection Criteria

The following criteria are essential requirements to fulfill the role of General Manager.

  • Tertiary qualification in Arts Management or equivalent industry experience.
  • A comprehensive under standing of financial management and financial systems including budgets, transactions, payroll, reporting and audit.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and knowledge and experience of the responsibilities of a General Manager including governance, strategic planning and relationship dynamics with respect to the Board and Artistic Director roles.
  • Aptitude and experience in managing the day to day requirements of an organization with respect to administration, human resources and operations.
  • Experience in managing funding and sponsorships including experience and aptitude in writing and acquitting grants.
  • Proven experience in marketing and publicity.
  • High level communication, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines. The ability to prioritise and plan short and long term tasks and projects is essential.
  • Strong computing skills (in a Mac OS X environment), across MS Office, MYOB and design software.
